Abstract
- The optimal conditions for the sorption of arsenic and antimony from nickel-containing solutions on freshly obtained manganese dioxide have been found (pH 2, coagulation time of the precipitate 75 min, addition of 2.0 mmol MnSO<subscript>4</subscript> and 0.2 mmol KMnO<subscript>4</subscript> per 50 ml). It was found that the Freundlich model describes the process of adsorption of arsenic and antimony on manganese dioxide most accurately (the correlation coefficient for antimony and arsenic was 0.98 and 0.99, respectively). According to the developed procedure, reference materials of nickel alloys were prepared for further determination of arsenic and antimony using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The certified and found values of the antimony and arsenic content in the samples were in good agreement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
