Abstract
- Monte Carlo simulation code (MCNP-5) was applied to evaluate the gamma ray shielding parameters for some composites containing different rations of lithium tungstate Li<subscript>2</subscript>WO<subscript>4</subscript>. The mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) and the half value layer (HVL) were calculated based on the simulated average track length obtained by Monte Carlo simulation code. Furthermore, the program Phy-X was used to calculate the buildup factor (EBF) in gamma ray energy varied between 0.015 and 15 MeV. The obtained results showed that insertion of Li<subscript>2</subscript>WO<subscript>4</subscript> enhance the shielding features of the studied composites. The fast neutron removal cross section was also calculated theoretically for the studied composites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
