Abstract

The article presents the findings of a follow-up study of treated male alcoholic addicts. The study group consisted of 211 alcoholics with loss of control and excessive, frequent drinking. The ages ranged from 24 to 70 years. After studying the changes in the different aspects of the patients' condition, it was found that around 22.5% became abstinent of whom 98 % showed an improvement in physical, mental or social respects; 49 % had changed their drinking habits positively of whom 96% improved in physical, mental and social respects.
