Abstract

Shimoi Harukichi (1884-1954) Italianist and professor of Japanese Language and Literature at the "Orientale" University of Naples, has recently regained popularity because of the ongoing centenary of the Impresa di Fiume where he took part for a few months during 1920. This is why recent research has focused on his political activism - rather than his literary production: this article aims to define the extent his experiences proved to be sufficient ground to be involved in the development of Italy-Japan alliance in the Thirties.
