Abstract
- This article reports on several developments from the telecommunications industry. Cisco Systems Inc. is paying $200 million in cash and options for P-Cube, a privately held company that has developed IP service control platforms for wireline and mobile networks. Motorola Inc.'s new smart phones for NTT DoCoMo's Foma service will be powered by Symbian's operating system. The devices, which are set to reach the market next spring, are also the first announced to feature WiFi access alongside 3G. Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd., a Hong Kong-based carrier that offers fixed and mobile services in the Far East, is planning to raise $100 million in an IPO on the New York stock exchange .
