Abstract

This article presents the profile of motor insurance company Admiral Co. Established in 1993 by Bermudan-based XL Capital, Admiral has quickly established itself as a major player in British motor insurance market. Along with the likes of Direct Line, it pioneered the sale of aggressively priced car cover through low overhead telesales and web-based distribution operations. This has been supplemented by a multi-faceted marketing strategy, using widely recognized brands such as Diamond and elephant.co.uk to appeal to a diverse range of British motorists. Whilst mass-market motor policies have been a core revenue driver, Admiral has successfully supplemented this growth by broking high-margin products such as legal cover and payment protection plans. Recent financials have also impressed analysts, with interim profits and turnover rising by over 30%.
