Abstract
- The article talks about Jose Ortega y Gasset's position as a philosopher is as problematical as Spain's has been relative to the modern European community; his writings yield an abundance of ideas such that he gained a reputation as Spain's foremost thinker of the twentieth century; and one reason for not considering Ortega a philosopher in the strict sense is that his preferred form was the essay, in which he savored ideas without having to present rigorous proof.
