Abstract

Presents information on land revolutions taking place in Chinese Communist territory. Widespread distribution of land to the peasants after the World War II; System of land distribution practiced in Shensi-Kansu-Ninghsia Border Region; Statement of chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, Mao-Tse-tsung that he has been persuading peasants to drop their land demands; Land program centered on rent reduction and taxes, followed in China until the end of the War with Japan; Confinement of the distribution of land to the property of pro-Japanese elements or landlords during that period; Distribution of lands of the rich among poor peasants during the Chinese Soviet period in late twenties; Method of "settling accounts" used by peasants in securing land; Confiscation of land under the laws of Communist areas; Claim of Tse-tsung that Communist leadership was considering the question of issuing land bonds to landlords whose property had been taken; Role of the outmoded land system in modernizing the country.
