Abstract

Infection with cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) has resulted in important economic losses in many crops worldwide. In this study, CMV was detected from Prunus serrulata, Photinia serrulata, Begonia semperflorens and Osmanthus matsumuranus by RT-PCR and Western blot, when eleven kinds of horticultural plants from three provinces were screened. This is the first report of CMV naturally infecting these four species of horticultural plants. In addition, CMV isolates from southwest China presented regional differences to isolates from other parts of China based on phylogenetic analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
