Abstract
- The article critiques Book I of the poem "Paradise Lost" by John Milton. Particular attention is given to Milton's use of a bee as a symbol, as the author suggests that the poet was inspired by the references to bees in the 1589 book "The Principall Navigations, Voiages and Discoveries of the English Nation, Made by Sea or Ouer Land" by Richard Hakluyt. In addition, he also explores language that equates soldiers to bees.
