Abstract

The article discusses the rebellion of General Douglas MacArthur of the U.S. army during the Korean War. The matter of rebellion of Douglas MacArthur is now before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The true story may never be fully revealed. Yet even if its outlines become clear it will show that MacArthur risked the lives of countless Americans without clear objectives, and this nation has reason to be eternally grateful to a modest and patient man, Omar Bradley. Those who have followed it closely within the Pentagon and White House sum up the story in this way: MacArthur, with characteristic contempt for judgments other than his own, was prevented from extending the war to a world war by General Bradley, in his capacity as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
