Abstract

The article focuses on the protests against racism are putting a spotlight on the U.S. State Department's problems with diversity. It mentions that Department bureaus, offices, embassies, and consulates have been having open and honest conversations that make clear that bias and discrimination must continue to be addressed and have no place in the Department of State. It also mentions that George Floyd's death and instances of police crackdowns at the ensuing protests sparked an uproar of condemnation from United Nations human rights watchdogs.
