Abstract

The article presents a study related to the expression of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE2) receptor in the human airway epithelium. It mentions ACE2 is expressed similarly in trachea and large airway epithelia (LAE), with lower expression in the small airway epithelia (SAE); and levels of miR-1246 expression could play a role in ACE2 upregulation in SAE of smokers; and Covid-19 fusion is affected by activity of an enzyme.
