Eco Innovation through GPP in the German public sector: Establishing GPP criteria for building façade services.

This research aims at exploring the current practice and possibilities for ECO-innovations through the application of environmental criteria in the performance descriptions of public tenders targeting the exterior construction and restoration sector, specifically the building façade services. The identification of environmental criteria can establish Green Public Procurement (GPP) guidelines and improve public procurement practises for building façade services. GPP guidelines for building façade services are needed as they regularly include the use of hazardous chemicals that pollute the environment. 25 public tenders will be analysed concerning the environmental criteria from a criteria catalogue and assessed according to the RPS method (relevance, potential, steerability) to identify suitable GPP criteria to encourage Eco- Innovations for building façade services.
