Abstract
- This article discusses political developments in the U.S. The political leader Joe McCarthy will never forgive the six men trying him on the Watkins Committee. But the stunning thing is that they do not fear him. And yet, without it, the United States's attention has drifted away from one of the most quietly spectacular shows people have ever witnessed. McCarthy hopes for a big Democratic victory this November. He has told intimates it is coming, and there is a hint of eagerness in his voice. In foreign affairs the question is Quemoy, that is the Nationalist island, five, miles off the Communist Chinese mainland.
