Abstract

The article discusses a study on risk-stratified management to remove low-risk penicillin allergy labels in the ICU. It reports that Penicillin allergies are commonly diagnosed in childhood and go unquestioned throughout life. It mentions that these allergy diagnoses are largely inaccurate, explained instead by viral exanthems, drug–viral interactions, or nonallergic side effects.
