Abstract

When I received a copy of Torkild Thanem and David Knights' I Embodied Research Methods i I looked at the cover, packed with people in pink shirts and T-shirts viewed from above, and felt a touch of anxiety mixed with curiosity about this book. The dialogue between Torkild and David is highly lively throughout and even becomes tense at times, such as when the reader learns that Torkild is frustrated and perhaps even irritated by David's low writing productivity. Thanem and Knights could have adopted the usual position of critique that acts from and remains at the margins, but rather than staying outside, they get their hands dirty with social science research methods - research design, traditional qualitative method techniques, analysis, writing - and reverse them from within.
