Abstract

The article examines the learning environment of diverse students in an introductory economics course at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Topics discussed include the underrepresentation of women and minority groups in the discipline of economics, aspects of the introductory economics experience including relevance, belonging, and growth mindset, and the differences in feelings of belonging.
