Abstract
- Although survival rates have increased during the past decades, some children still die from disease and many survivors develop chronic diseases and functional impairment as a result.[1] The diagnosis of such illnesses is a life-changing event for their families, as well as for themselves. Adult studies have shown that ACP increased congruence in treatment preferences between patients and medical staff and increased the likelihood that patients' preferences were respected. First, the study had a low response rate (29%) and this might have positively biased the results, as it is most likely that the survey was answered by those physicians who were already interested in ACP.
