Abstract

(Bloomberg) -- Former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir will stand trial on charges related to the 1989 coup that brought him to power as well as a crackdown on the protests that eventually led to his ouster, the General Attorney said. Bashir, who was sentenced to two years in a rehabilitation facility in December for illicit possession of foreign currencies, was overthrown by Sudan's army in April 2019 after months of deadly protests.
