Abstract
- Once upon a time the author was a young social investigator in the New York City Dept. of Welfare. Among her co-workers was a big, brusque young man. Every Christmas Eve before going home to his wife and children, he stopped to see seven elderly and lonely female clients, bringing each a Christmas tree, nail polish, and lipstick, and they adored him.
