Abstract

Chapter 6 portrays the issues and advantages related to implementing VoIP service in corporate communication environments. It is possible to roll out easily VoIP service in single-location Enterprises where the network is highly reliable and available-that is supporting multiple LAN segments with backups of servers and power supply-using either IP phones or traditional POTS phones with adapters. Multimedia communication server and IP-PBX can be easily deployed in such a scenario, which provide an opportunity to integrate the corporate Datacom and Telecom departments. For multi-site medium to large Enterprises, access and transmission level security and quality of service may pose real implementation challenges. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
