Abstract

The article focuses on background and legislative process of commemorative coins which are produced by the U.S. Mint pursuant to an act of Congress and are often proposed by Members of Congress as part of their representational duties. It mentions U.S. Treasury became concerned that so many coins might facilitate counterfeiting. It also mentions Commemorative Coin Reform Act (CCRA) of 1996's statutory limitation of two commemorative coins.
