Abstract
- Eight subjects' surface electromyography (EMG) signals of musculus flexor digitorum superficialis (MFDS) and acceleration signals of hand simultaneously recorded during maximum voluntary contraction of MFDS (contraction time=8 s). Noraxon MiniDTS wireless EMG system for MFDS EMG and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 for acceleration signals recordings were used. Sampling frequencies of EMG and acceleration signals were 1500 Hz and 50 Hz, respectively. Median frequency (MF) of EMG signals and acceleration signals perpendicular to hand plane were used in analyses. After 20 Hz high-pass Butterworth filtering of raw EMG signals for movement artefact rejection, normalized MF of each EMG was calculated. Acceleration amplitudes also calculated from the last two second normalized acc signals' rms (root-mean-square) values. Statistics showed a negative correlation (Spearman-r= -0.72, p<0.05) between EMG MFs and acceleration amplitudes. The results of this preliminary study suggest that mobile phones can be used for fatigue detection for MFDS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
