Abstract
- Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the physical education and sports learning environments in terms of constructivist approach. Method: The research design was used as a quantitative research method. The study group of the research; In 2018-2019, there are 451 students in 5th, 6th and 7th grades in secondary schools in Burdur. The data were obtained with the Constructivist Learning Environment Scale. The Constructivist Learning Environment Scale developed by Tenenbaum, Naidu, Jegede and Austin (2001) was adapted to Turkish by Fer and Cırık (2006). This scale consists of thirty items, "Discussions and discussions", "Conceptual contradictions", Sharing thoughts with others", Material and resources aiming to solve", Motivating for reflection and concept discovery", Meeting learning needs" and "Meaning" creation and connection with real life events" (Tenenbaum et al., 2001; Fer & Cırık, 2006). SPSS 20.0 package program was used in the analysis of the obtained data. In the study, the mean scores of the sub-dimensions of the scale were taken and ANOVA test was used to see whether the constructivist approach environment changed between the grade levels. Results: As a result of the analysis; The average size of discussions and interviews was 3.33; The average dimension of conceptual contradictions was 2,14; The average dimension of sharing ideas with others was 3.43; The average size of materials and resources aimed at the solution is 3.60; The average dimension of motivation for projection and concept discovery is 3.43; The mean dimension of meeting the needs of the learner was 3.38 and the mean dimension of creating meaning and connection with real life events was 3.46. In addition, as a result of the ANOVA test, it was determined that the learning environments in the 7th grade physical education courses were the most unsuitable grade level for the constructivist approach. Conclusion: At the end of the study, it was concluded that constructivist learning approach was given medium level in physical education and sports lesson learning environments. In addition, it was found that the higher the grade level, the less the constructivist learning environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
