Abstract
- The first divalent-metal iodate-phosphate, Pb<subscript>2</subscript>(IO<subscript>3</subscript>)(PO<subscript>4</subscript>), has been prepared via the strategy of introducing (IO<subscript>3</subscript>)<superscript>−</superscript> into phosphate. The structure features a unique 3D network where [Pb(IO<subscript>3</subscript>)]<subscript>∞</subscript><superscript>+</superscript> and [Pb(PO<subscript>4</subscript>)]<subscript>∞</subscript><superscript>−</superscript> layers are alternatively interconnected. The birefringence of Pb<subscript>2</subscript>(IO<subscript>3</subscript>)(PO<subscript>4</subscript>) is greatly increased to 0.060 at 1064 nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
