Abstract

For this purpose, a database of experimental crack widths for load-induced flexural cracking was compiled from reputable sources to obtain the measured maximum crack widths, I w i SB exp sb . Design crack width predictions were obtained for each of the three crack models as a best estimate of the predicted maximum crack widths, using the geometric and material properties from the experimental data. The predicted maximum crack width corresponds to a 5% probability of exceedance[3] by design code formulations, which may not probabilistically match the measured maximum crack width, thus contributing to model uncertainty.
