Abstract

The article presents information on the life of Austrian Statesman and diplomat Klemens Wenzel Nepomuk Lothar von Metternich. Officials papers show that he was really a true prophet in politics. Metternich had studied Napoleon Bonaparte, emperor of France, as a naturalist studies a new species; he understood the necessities of this strange character, which could not limit its action: if Napoleon was not the master of the world he could not remain the master of France. Metternich had a very clear mind, and he knew how to sacrifice the details to the general and important objects.
