Abstract
- Results of treatment of eight Patients with South American pemphigus foliaceus with methotrexate are reported. All the patients continued to receive corticosteroids during the methotrexate therapy. In five patients there was no clinical improvement; in two a slight response was noted. One patient had a good response before his death from bronchopneumonia. No favorable alterations in the titers of antiepithelium antibodies and antistreptolysin "0" were noted. Those results suggest that this drug is not effective for pemphigus foliaceus.
