Correlation between contraceptive attitudes and contraceptive knowledge in women with unplanned pregnancy.

Abstract

Objective To investigate the contraceptive attitudes and contraceptive knowledge in women with unplanned pregnancy, and to explore the correlation between contraceptive attitudes and contraceptive knowledge. Methods: A total of 356 women with unplanned pregnancy were recruited and investigated by using a self-design demographic questionnaire, contraceptive attitude scale and contraceptive knowledge scale. Results: The average total score of contraceptive attitudes and contraceptive knowledge in unplanned pregnancy women respectively were(64.21±6.72)and(14.09±5.03), respectively. The total score of contraceptive attitudes scale and contraceptive knowledge was positively correlated(r=0.301, P<0.01). Conclusion: There was a positive correlation between contraceptive attitudes and contraceptive knowledge in women with unplanned pregnancy. Medical workers should pay attention on contraception knowledge level of women with unplanned pregnancy, in order to improve their contraceptive attitudes and achieve consistent contraceptive behavior.
