Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nursing interventions on the acute attack of chronic asthmatic bronchitis. Methods Totally 160 patients with acute attacks of chronic asthmatic bronchitis were assigned to the control group and the study group, with 80 cases in each group. All patients received routine care during treatment, and those in the study were given TCM nursing interventions. The integral score of TCM symptoms and overall response rate of interventions were compared between two groups. Results Patients in the study group achieved better integral scores of TCM symptoms including asthma, expectoration and shortness of breath compared with those in the control group (P <0. 05). The overall response rate was 90.00% (72/80) in the study group and 81. 25% (65/80)in the control group, with a significant difference (P <0.05). Conclusion The TCM nursing interventions are effective to improve clinical symptoms of acute attack of chronic asthmatic bronchitis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
