Abstract

A response by the authors to a paper which suggests that some of the Bayesian models they have developed from various archaeological sites are not reliable and cannot be used in dating the Middle to Upper Palaeolithic transition, is presented. Topics covered include issues that should be considered when conducting Bayesian modelling and testing the resulting models, testing the modified La Quina model, and critique of the radiocarbon dating and modelling of the Swabian site in Germany.
