Abstract
- The article focuses on several developments in the U.S. and around the world, as of December 17, 1891. U.S. President Benjamin Harrison informs Congress that Germany has opened her ports to inspected American pork products. Harrison adds that the removal of these restrictions in every instance was given solely upon the ground that the U.S. had now provided a meat inspection that should be accepted as adequate. It seems that a committee composed of the most prominent French artists has decided to organize at Paris, in the spring of 1892, an exhibition of the works of French painter Jean Louis Ernest Meissonier and that American owners of pictures by that painter are to be approached for the purpose of requesting loans to the exhibition.
