Abstract

A novel tungstophosphate H<subscript>12</subscript>Na<subscript>4</subscript>K<subscript>3</subscript>[{Fe<subscript>5</subscript>O<subscript>5</subscript>(OH)<subscript>2</subscript>(OAc)<subscript>2</subscript>}<subscript>2</subscript>{W<subscript>2</subscript>-O<subscript>2</subscript>(OH)}{P<subscript>2</subscript>W<subscript>14</subscript>O<subscript>54</subscript>}<subscript>2</subscript>]·36H<subscript>2</subscript>O (1) containing an unprecedented [{Fe<subscript>5</subscript>O<subscript>5</subscript>(OH)<subscript>2</subscript>(OAc)<subscript>2</subscript>}<subscript>2</subscript>{W<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>2</subscript>(OH)}] unit has been successfully obtained and characterized by IR, TGA, magnetic susceptibility measurements and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It shows a decameric Fe<superscript>III</superscript> molecular assembly formed through two {Fe<subscript>5</subscript>O<subscript>23</subscript>} subunits bridged by a {W<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>3</subscript>} motif.
