This editorial serves two purposes: It provides a general introduction to storytelling from an organizational and IS perspective. While such impoverished versions of storytelling are normally not included in the storytelling research discourse, there are other researchers who use the full richness of stories to engage with users in the software development process and thus contribute to and benefit from the storytelling scientific discourse. Recent hype around storytelling has made clear that the appeal, effectiveness, and potential of storytelling in IS is widely recognized.
