Abstract
- The article examines the unexpected deaths among patients with normal initial vital signs. It mentions that one-third of deaths in the U.S. occur in a hospital and more than half of patients who are admitted to the hospital present through the emergency department (ED). It also mentions that inadequacy of vital signs alone as a predictor of death, no published studies have specifically analyzed how often patients who visit the ED with normal vital signs die in the hospital.
