Abstract
- Kyrle disease, or hyperkeratosis follicularis et parafollicularis in cutem penetrans, is characterized by generalized prurigo-like keratotic papules. Association of this disease with diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, or hepatic disorder has been reported. Kyrle disease skin lesions were historically said to be recalcitrant to treatment, although more recently retinoids have been found to be beneficial or have been used successfully. Corticosteroid therapy, either topical or systemic administration, however, has been known to be ineffective in Kyrle disease.
