Abstract

The radial line slot antenna is a wave- guide slot array and has been studied as a high-gain and high-efficiency planar antenna in which efficiency reduction due to an in- creased aperture size is minimal. If the theoretical efficiency (of more than 80%) is required to be realized, the aperture distribution must be made uniform at the de- signed frequency by controlling the coupling of slots. This paper presents a method for design of the slots for this purpose. By considering the perturbation of the internal electromagnetic field due to coupling, an excellent characteristic with the efficiency of 75 percent (36.3 dBi) is obtained at the designed 12 GHz.
