Abstract
- Paraskeva's monograph situates Beckett's work for the stage and screen in modernist film culture. He provides an account of Beckett's indebtedness to silent films and, more specifically, nouvelle vague film techniques. The monograph is a welcome addition to Beckett studies, and should be of interest to scholars seeking an in-depth understanding of Beckett's admiration for modernist films, and the cross-pollination of cinematic techniques in his work for stage and television.
