Abstract

The article focuses on Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection which is frequently observed in patients with advanced AIDS and can be associated with specific cutaneous lesions. Numerous drugs are used in the treatment of MAC. Combination therapy is usually used with such drugs as clarithromycin, clofazimine, rifabutin, ethambutol, ciprofloxacin, or rifampin. Treatment seems more efficient when initiated promptly after the onset of symptoms. In the case presented, monotherapy was used because the lesions already showed signs of healing.
