Abstract
- This article critically appraises new editions of U.S. poet and critic Edgar Allan Poe, "The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe," edited by James A. Harrison and "The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe," with a critical introduction by Charles F. Richardson. The coincidence of their publication strongly emphasizes the established place of Poe in American standard literature, and the care with which his fame is cherished. In other respects, the two editions are also opposed, and, if the former receives greater attention, it is because of its unusual claims.
