Abstract

The 20 facilities were selected in collaboration with the Department of Health, Western Cape, South Africa (SA), and Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly & Children (MoHCDGEC) in Tanzania (TZ), as high volume delivery sites. In South Africa to embed changes into the regional training structures and curriculum, and in Tanzania to institutionalise PPFP within facilities, supported by facility management and regional and district health management teams. The proportion of women receiving postpartum contraception, particularly LARCs, increased in both Tanzania and South Africa, but was especially striking in Tanzania, which started from a lower base.
