Abstract
- The article discusses the challenges facing the community of St. James Parish in Louisiana with the establishment of petrochemical plants which can cause significant health issues as of September 2019. Topics discussed include plan to build chemical plants from Formosa Petrochemical and Wanhua Chemical Group, the founding of the Rise St. James movement by Sharon Lavigne which aims to block operations of these plants, and lack of support from the parish community and its political wing.
