Abstract
- Abstract.CoGd<subscript>x</subscript>Fe<subscript>2-x</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript> nanoparticles with x = 0.0, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.10 and 0.15 were prepared by co-precipitation route. The effect of Gd<superscript>3+</superscript>replacement over Fe<superscript>3+</superscript>on optical properties of CoFe<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript>nanoparticles has been analyzed. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed single phase formation with spinel structure and lattice parameter reduced with increasing Gd<superscript>3+</superscript> concentration.Optical band gap measurements suggested that band gap valuedecreasesfrom 1.11 to 0.93 eV with Gd<superscript>3+</superscript> substitution, however, the emitting centers in photoluminescence spectra are same for undoped and Gd<superscript>3+</superscript> doped samples.
