Abstract
- The article discusses that students in public K-12 alternative schools in the U.S. are among some of the most vulnerable populations in schools. It mentions that these schools serve students are at risk of educational failure because of poor grades, truancy, disruptive behavior, and mental health issues; and also mentions a child's performance and behavior in school may be affected by health and social challenges outside the classroom that tend to be more acute for poor children.
