Synthesis and Dielectric Characterization of BaZrNb2O8 High Temperature Piezoelectric ceramics.

Abstract
- We present here the structural, dielectric and polarization studies on BaZrNb<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>8</subscript> piezo-ceramics synthesized by solid state ceramic route. Microstructural, structural, dielectric and polarization characteristics have been studied using scanning electron microscopy, XRD, impedance measurement and P-E hysteresis measurements, respectively. Rietveld refinement of XRD data reveals that BaZrNb<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>8</subscript> sample crystallizes into monoclinic crystal structure with space group P2/m. The temperature dependent dielectric measurement reveals that BaZrNb<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>8</subscript> sample displays relaxer behavior. The P-E hysteresis measurement of BaZrNb<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>8</subscript> piezoceramic shows polarization of 1.75 μC/cm² at an electric field of 25 kV/cm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
