Abstract

Domain switching by triangular field pulses was studied in (111)-cut rhombohedral PMN-PT crystal in the temperature range from 25 to 130 °C. The usual ferroelectric behavior with smooth switching current shape and well-defined threshold field (E<subscript>th</subscript>) was obtained for temperatures below T<subscript>f</subscript> (115 °C). At the temperatures above T<subscript>f</subscript>, the switching current consisted of the pulses and complete backswitching was obtained. The sample image evolution investigated during: (1) zero-field heating and subsequent zero-field cooling, and (2) zero-field heating and field-cooling was attributed to a known domain structure behavior. The single-domain volume was achieved in the sample completely covered by electrode after field-cooling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
