Abstract

Nowadays, the applications of Plastic Optical Fibers (POFs) keep increasing in most industries. The usage of this type of fiber is essential in some sensor designs such as POF elongation sensors, which requires the correct interpretation of values received. This article shows the results obtained with POF under vibration and fatigue loads in cyclical tests at different temperatures. The fiber proved to be a very consistent sensor transducer, able to withstand the aging due to vibration, fatigue and temperature loads, which yields good results for structural-survey measurements.
