Conversion disorder and the trouble with trauma.

There has been much debate around whether conversion disorder should still be considered psychogenic, in nomenclature and in conceptualisation. There have been a number of articles (Stone and Edwards, 2011; Stone et al., 2011; Edwards et al., 2013) questioning the ‘psychogenic model' and calling for its replacement, with arguably the greatest shift coming in the removal of the psychogenic criterion (‘preceding trauma that could explain the illness') from DSM-5′ s Conversion Disorder.
