Abstract

The article presents developments related to the World War I in various parts of the world. The indications that the time has come for the assumption of a vigorous offensive by the French and British troops in France and Belgium appear to have been confirmed by the events of the past few days. Full credit has perhaps not been given to the loyalty of Russia to her allies in thus embarking on an isolated adventure, based on no general strategic plan, and foredoomed almost from the first to disaster, in order to assist the common cause. The article also focuses on the Russian official statement which though somewhat confusing in parts, enables us to gain a fairly clear idea of recent operations in Poland, from the German retreat from in front of Warsaw to the days immediately preceding the battle at Lodz.
